this is where I keep my online diary and photos

| about me

I grew up, and went to University, in Glasgow. Then I worked for John Smith's booksellers for six years. I learnt a lot about computers and the internet during that time and ended up moving to London in 2000 to work for a large media organisation.

Damion and I got married in September 2003 and our daughter Holly was born in June 2006

In my spare time, I love doing static trapeze at The Circus Space in London. It keeps me relatively fit and I have great friends there too. I irregularly do yoga and I try to go running once or twice a week.

I'm love programming in perl and I really enjoy learning new aspects of the language. My main focus now is to be more elegant and efficient with my code. I've also dabbled with vim and shell scripting. I continue to use Linux and learn more about cool things like DVD authoring. For the few years I've been lurking around the Linuxchix mailing lists and irc channels. It's a great community and I've learnt about a whole range of issues, technical and otherwise.

| about this site

I use vim to write and edit my html. My resources are basically W3C for HTML and CSS standards and Apache for any fiddly web server stuff. I use CSS and XSSI to make the site changes manageable and to make it easier for the site to comply with web standards. I use my own diary system to generate HTML and RSS output and I use a lovely program called igal to create the photo albums.
